Title: Mastering the Xojo Dialog Box
Date made available: Mmm d, YYYY
Built with: Xojo 2019R2 (64-bit Windows and macOS)
Most Xojo desktop apps present a unified way to either command or retrieve information with a dialog box. Code to manage the interactions between components displayed in a dialog box can be far more complicated than selecting a checkbox, entering text in an edit field, and then clicking the OK button.
Adopting a document-object-model view strategy can reduce a “spaghetti code” maintenance nightmare. A structured approach simplifies dynamic updates of controls, localization, and modal/modeless behavior. This tutorial removes the mystery behind dialog box coding.
No software code is complete without “killer” specifications and documentation. The documentation includes a 3-page overview syllabus and a unique 4-page user guide documentation in newspaper format:
Creating this tutorial took inspiration from my beautiful wife and lots (and lots) of espressos (The Break espresso bar in Missoula, MT)
